The purpose of a usability evaluation is to provide feedback on how easy your site or application is to use. Usability evaluations are a key part of the UX design process. Goode Design can help conduct the right type of usability evaluation for the right stage in the design process. Some of our techniques include:
- Design walkthroughs – reviewing your design prototypes with relevant users and/or stakeholders using a set of task based scenarios.
- Expert reviews – measuring the user experience against a recognised set of usability heuristics (or rules of thumb) including reviewing information presentation, interactions with the user and navigation. It is a cost effective method of evaluating a site or online application by an experienced usability expert and can be conducted at any stage of the development to uncover major issues prior to release.
- Formal objective testing – a rigorous technique for evaluating ‘fitness for use’ of a web site, intranet or online application by having a team of observers watch real users perform real tasks. It measures and assesses error rates, task times and task completion rates.
We are happy to discuss the merits and outcomes of the evaluation you have in mind!
